PHOENIX, AZ (January 25, 2017) – Jones, Skelton & Hochuli, PLC is pleased to announce Robert Berk and Dillon Steadman recently obtained a defense verdict in a legal malpractice case. The plaintiff alleged that the defending attorneys committed malpractice while representing the Plaintiff in an underlying workers compensation case. The court granted defendants’ motion to split the case into a liability phase and a damage phase.
After an unsuccessful mediation, at which the plaintiff demanded $1.9 million and the defendants offered $75,000, the liability phase of the trial took place. After a 5-day trial, the jury was out less than ten minutes before returning a unanimous defense verdict on liability. As a result of the verdict, the damage trial was vacated.
Robert Berk has been at Partner at JSH since 1996. For over 30 years, Mr. Berk has practiced in commercial/contract litigation, professional liability defense and coverage litigation.
Dillon Steadman focusing his practice on professional liability, bad faith, and general civil liability. Born and raised in Phoenix, Mr. Steadman moved to Tucson, where he got his B.S., B.A., and J.D. from the University of Arizona.
