Kate focuses her practice in the areas of general civil litigation, insurance defense, premises liability and automobile liability defense. Before joining JSH, she worked as a law clerk for the Hon. James P. Beene, James B. Morse, Jr., Maria Elena Cruz, and Donn Kessler at the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division 1. In her four years as a judicial clerk, Kate gained valuable legal research and writing experience in cases involving criminal, civil, Anders, parental severance, juvenile delinquency, unemployment, industrial commission, and post-conviction relief. Before graduating law school, Kate also worked as a summer law clerk with another Valley law firm, where she researched case law and prepared trial materials in public entity liability, personal injury, and conflict of law.
During law school, Kate was active in various school groups. She served as a Student Ambassador for the Law and Global Affairs Center, as a 3L Representative for the International Law Students Association, was a member of the Sandra Day O’Connor Inn of Court, volunteered for the Graduate and Professional Student Association Grant Review and Awards Review Committees, and was a member of the Women’s Law Student Association. Kate was also a member of ASU’s Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court team and competed in Vienna, Austria two years in a row.
While pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Hispanic Studies, Kate studied abroad in Santiago, Chile at the Universidad de Chile and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She is conversationally fluent in Spanish, and worked as a Spanish Student Academic Affairs Board Tutor at Lewis and Clark College.
Outside the firm, Kate enjoys traveling, reading, painting, doing yoga, and spending time with her dog. She is an Arizona native.
