He represents architects and engineers, physicians, lawyers, board directors and officers, and real estate agents and brokers.

Before joining JSH, Joel served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Paul McMurdie and Judicial Extern for the Honorable Philip Espinosa at the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division One and Two respectively. During this time, he gained significant civil and appellate experience. Joel authored numerous decisions addressing civil, criminal, family, and juvenile law, and routinely presented cases in pre-trial conferences before three-judge panels. This experience afforded Joel the opportunity to analyze a variety of complex legal matters, fine-tune his writing skills, and develop close working relationships with judges.

While earning his law degree at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, Joel volunteered as a Writing Center Fellow and was promoted to Head of the Writing Center in his final semester. Joel gained practical legal experience as a Rule 38(d) Limited Practice Student at the Child and Family Law Clinic, and as a Legal Intern with the Attorney General’s Office for Southern Arizona White Collar and Criminal Enterprise. Remaining active in his law school community, Joel served as President of the Environmental Law Society, as Head Kaplan Representative, and as a member of the Arizona Law Review. He graduated cum laude, and earned two CALI Excellence for the Future Awards: Legal Process, Analysis & Writing; and Electronic Discovery and Evidence. Joel also earned the Award for Outstanding Performance in Legal Writing, the Award for Outstanding Performance in Oral Advocacy, the Massaro/Leavitt Scholarship, and the Dean’s Achievement Scholarship.

A California native, Joel earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science, with Minors in Theater and Performing Arts, and History, from the University of San Diego. He enjoys Scuba diving, photography, sports, and live theatre.
