Jones, Skelton & Hochuli, PLC is pleased to welcome Oluwasegun“Olu” Muse as our 3L Diversity Externship Scholar. In partnership with ASU College of Law, Olu will work at the firm during his final year of law school to gain practical law firm experience. This externship program allows firms to identify and work with qualified diverse students who may have been missed during the traditional recruitment process. During the course of his internship at JSH, Olu will work with many of the firm’s trial groups and attorneys, and be assigned various writing and research projects. With a minimum of 165 hours required per semester, the Program ensures the student will have ample opportunities to hone their writing skills, while experiencing law firm life first-hand.

Olu recently transferred to ASU’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law from Indiana University’s Maurer School of Law. Passionate about the science behind technology, Olu is working to earn a Law, Science and Technology Certificate (Intellectual Property). He is an active participant in programs offered at ASU’s Center for Law, Science and Innovation, and he is a member of the Intellectual Property Association. During his 1L, Olu earned the prestigious Milton Stewart Overseas Externship Award, an international legal externship program. Studying in Tel Aviv and Bangkok, he worked at law firm practicing in anti-terrorism and human rights litigation, and at a firm focusing in intellectual property enforcement. While at Indiana University, Olu was a member of the Business Law Society, Sports & Entertainment Society, and Intellectual Property Association.

Before law school, Olu worked in D.C. for the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), managing membership, financials, educational programming, and training for 50 NSCS chapters across the U.S. Olu completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, majoring in Politics – Foreign Affairs. He gained legal experience working as an intern and research assistant at a Charlottesville-based litigation firm, as well as through a study abroad program that took him to the UVA campus in Rome. Seeking to assist and guide incoming students, Olu worked as a resident advisor and mentor for international and transfer students. Olu was also a student athlete, playing football for the UVA Cavaliers.
