Jones, Skelton & Hochuli is pleased to welcome Colin CantuIsabella GoldsmithMatt HoltJosie JasminMelynda Meyrick, and Tyler Miller from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at ASU, and Grace Sluga from the James E. Rogers College of Law at U of A, to our 2023 Summer Associate Program. During their summer clerkship at JSH, these law students will work with attorneys in each of the firm’s practice areas, handle research and writing projects, learn about the day-to-day practice of law in the private sector, and observe hearings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations.

Colin Cantu received a B.A. in Political Science and History from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington in 2021. At ASU Law he serves as one the 3L class representatives in the Student Bar Association, and will be a member of the ASU Mock Trial Team next year. He serves as the ASU Saint Thomas More Society Secretary/Historian and is a lector at Saint Mary’s Basilica for Saturday Night Mass. Last summer he interned for the Honorable Pamela Gates with the Maricopa County Superior Court.

Isabella Goldsmith earned her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in English from UCLA where she was also a member of the Swim & Dive Team. She has served as a Judicial Extern for Judge Howard Sukenic , Superior Court of Arizona, Maricopa County, and is currently the Associate Editor of the Corporate and Business Law Journal, Vice President of Social Affairs for the Student Bar Association, and President of the ASU Law Liberty Project.

Matt Holt is a 2024 Juris Doctor and Masters of Sports Law and Business Candidate, currently serving as Moot Court Board President, American Constitution Society Treasurer, the Senior Fellow for Scholarship of the McCarthy Institute, and a Note and Comment Editor on the Corporate & Business Law Journal. He previously worked as a Legal Extern for the Arizona Attorney General’s Office Civil Litigation Division, as well as for Bacardi, where last summer he led a research project covering the laws of every state regarding alcohol pricing. Matt graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Political Science and History.

Josie Jasmin is currently the Executive Articles Editor of the Sports and Entertainment Law Journal, President and Founder of the First Generation Law Association, and a member of the Women Law Students Association. She has worked as a Law Clerk researching 41 U.S.C. 1983 claims and drafting complaints, Notices of Claim, and other legal documents. During her undergraduate years at Michigan State University, Josie collected and analyzed data related to gender roles and the role of female attorneys in briefs and oral arguments before the Supreme Court, and also served as a Congressional Intern for Congresswoman Debbie Dingell. Josie received her B.A. in Political Science/Pre-Law in 2020.

Melynda Meyrick received her B.A. in Political Science with Minors in Chinese and History from Southern Illinois University. She has served as a research assistant for ASU Professor Dr. Linda Demaine and as a Law Clerk for Federal Immigration Counselors, PC, where she assisted attorneys in trial preparation, working with DHS and U.S. Embassies in relation to consular processing. She is currently the Associate Editor of the Corporate and Business Law Journal, and a member of the Black Law Student Association, Phoenix Legal Action Network, and the Diverse Student Coalition.

Tyler Miller won the 2021 Jenckes Closing Argument Competition against the University of Arizona, and is a staff writer for the Arizona State Law Journal and a member of the ASU Mock Trial Team. He has worked for the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office and as a paralegal at law firms in Arizona and New Jersey. Tyler earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of California, Davis, where he was also Team Captain of the undergraduate Mock Trial Team. He served as a Mock Trial Coach for Davis High School, as well.

Grace Sluga, this year’s lone Summer Associate hailing from Tucson, is a member of the Law Women’s Association and the Latino Law Student Association, as well as a Managing Editor for the Arizona Law Review. She gained legal experience while working as an Extern drafting prosecutorial discretion motions, briefs for asylum cases, humanitarian parole requests, and notices of appeal, and recently worked as a Clinical Law Student for the Workers’ Rights Clinic. Her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Spanish Literature is also from the University of Arizona, where she was a member of Chi Omega, Phi Beta Kappa, and the Student Services Fee Advisory Board.
