JSH legal nurse consultant Denice Jarles was invited to speak to a group of 50 nursing students about her role as a licensed in-house legal nurse consultant. The Nursing Honor Society students at Glendale Community College heard from a panel of nurses who spoke of the various career paths available, including clinical, administrative, private practice, emergency room, occupational medicine, primary care, diagnostic imaging, instructor-trainer, and legal. 

Denice has 22 years’ experience working with lawyers and law firms as a legal nurse consultant. She previously worked as a traditional bedside nurse, in nursing management, and as a flight nurse. As a legal nurse consultant, Denice focuses in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury, product liability and criminal matters, and has extensive experience working with experts and preparing for trial. She is especially adept in her ability to educate attorneys, experts and clients in the nuances of how medicine interacts with the legal aspects of a case. Throughout her 22-year legal career, Denice has worked on hundreds cases involving professional liability (both medical and legal), personal injury, criminal and products liability.

A licensed registered nurse, Denice earned her BSN from the University of Phoenix and she is an active member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC).
