Below is the excerpt from “Novel Ways to Train and Develop Associates,” written by Marcia Watson Wasserman, published in the America Bar Association’s Law Practice July/August 2018 magazine.

“Many years ago we started a new lawyer training program for lawyers with less than 2 years of experience.  It’s a weekly lecture with different speakers and guests.  Our program consists of 26 different topics covering everything from drafting an answer, writing persuasively, taking an expert deposition and preparing a case for trial.  We frequently invite outside speakers, including judges, doctors and expert witnesses. We also require every associate to attend and watch at least 20 hours of trial at the courthouse per year.”
