Mel focuses his practice in the areas of criminal defense and major civil litigation. He has significant experience handling non-criminal white collar cases, many of which have been featured on Dateline NBC, ABC 20/20, CBS, 48 Hours, Inside Edition, Hard Copy and Court TV.

Before joining JSH, Mel served as a U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona, a prosecutor in the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, and a former Superior Court Judge for Maricopa County. After earning his J.D., Mel worked as a law clerk for the Hon. F. Henri Herniod of the Utah Supreme Court and the Hon. Charles C. Bernstein and Hon. Jack D.H. Hays in the Arizona Supreme Court.
