Jared West, an Albuquerque native, brings extensive experience and legal acumen to Jones, Skelton & Hochuli’s New Mexico office. After successful tenures at Colorado’s top litigation firms, Jared returns to his roots, ready to serve clients with exceptional legal expertise.
At JSH, Jared focuses on complex civil litigation, construction, premises liability, and other general civil litigation matters.
Before joining JSH, Jared defended product manufacturers and distributors, recreational businesses, and licensed professionals against claims including products liability, premises liability, construction defects, and medical malpractice. He has a proven track record in high-stakes litigation across state and federal courts. Jared’s dedication has earned him accolades such as Thomson Reuters’s Rising Star, Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch, and Top Attorney in Business Commercial Litigation, Civil Litigation, and Contract Law. In 2024, he was selected for the prestigious Colorado Bar Association Leadership Training program (COBALT).
A University of Nebraska College of Law graduate, Jared’s academic career was marked by numerous honors, including Law Review, Moot Court, and distinctions in General Litigation and Intellectual Property. He also received the esteemed CALI Excellence Award for his performance in the Criminal Clinic. Jared completed his undergraduate studies at the University of New Mexico, where he majored in Psychology and Philosophy and served on the executive board of Phi Sigma Pi Honors Fraternity.
Jared is committed to serving his community through various professional and educational contributions. His pro bono work has been recognized by the Nebraska Supreme Court. A legal writing enthusiast, his works have been featured in the Nebraska Law Review, Colorado Lawyer, and Lawyer Magazine. He actively shares his expertise by teaching continuing education courses for the Colorado Association of Professional Interpreters and the Litigation Section of the Colorado Bar Association. A former secretary and treasurer of the Colorado Bar Association’s Cannabis Section, Jared also mentors law students.
In his free time, Jared enjoys running, Japanese Jujutsu/Judo, metal concerts, and spending time with his family and pets.
