Companies and organizations increasingly rely on their websites and mobile applications to conduct significant amounts of business, and some have disposed of brick-and-mortar establishments entirely. Yet, while most business owners have a general understanding of the requirements of complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act for their physical locations, many are unfamiliar with a developing area of the law, which will require that websites be ADA compliant as well. In 2016, there was a tremendous increase in the number of lawsuits filed alleging website accessibility claims, and we anticipate that this trend will only continue. In this webinar, we will explore the current state of the law, forecast how we think the law will develop, and provide strategies and actions that businesses and organizations can take in an effort to prevent these types of lawsuits.
