Governmental Liability & Employment Law partners Michele Molinario and Joseph Popolizio and associate attorney Justin Ackerman will present “Police Liability in the Court of Public Opinion” on October 29 during the PRIMA (Public Risk Management Association) Institute 2021.
During their session on police liability, Michele and Joe will discuss recent high-profile cases involving alleged excessive force and discrimination. Attendees will (1) develop an understanding of the key factual issues in excessive force and discrimination cases, (2) gain familiarity with the legal trends facing our nation based on public perception; and (3) learn how to identify areas of concern to improve public perception and handling of these case.
The team will analyze the legal issues and challenges surrounding recent jury verdicts, and discuss how the media attention has shaped modern law.

Michele Molinario has dedicated her professional career in the areas of government liability and employment law. She represents private employers and public entities and their employees, including police officers, detention officers, emergency responders, public works directors, building inspectors and traffic engineers, etc. Michele has tried state and federal jury trials and bench trials, as well as administrative law hearings.
Joe Popolizio represents governmental entities, law enforcement personnel, elected officials, municipalities and private correctional facilities in matters involving alleged civil rights violations such as wrongful death, excessive force, racial profiling and discriminatory policing. Joe conducts trials in both state and federal courts, defending governmental clients in complex, high-profile matters involving the Department of Justice and ACLU.
Justin Ackerman represents clients in federal and state appellate matters in cases involving excessive force, wrongful death, personal injury, bad faith, and premises liability.
