Mercedes LaPorchia assists clients in the construction and manufacturing industries in a variety of civil and commercial litigation cases, including insurance defense, general liability, construction defect, and personal injury cases. She has a unique ability to identify issues for her clients, analyzing legal arguments, and articulate them to clients, judges, and juries.
While earning her law degree from Whittier Law School, Mercedes worked as a summer and fall intern at the Orange County Public Defender’s Office assisting attorneys with misdemeanor and felony cases. Mercedes was an active member of numerous law school organizations including the Black Law Student Association where she served as president. In addition, Mercedes was awarded the Outstanding Achievement award as a Member of the Trial Advocacy Board after she competed in the San Diego Defense Lawyers 2014 Mock Trial Competition.

In those roles, she managed a busy practice focused on construction defect, property damage, and personal injury claims from inception through arbitration, on both the defense and prosecution side. Mercedes also served as an operation legal specialist with Wells Fargo Bank, giving her unique experience handling corporate matters.
After graduating from Whittier Law School, Mercedes worked at the Office of the Primary Public Defender’s Office in San Diego as a Post-Bar Clerk. There she provided legal representation, consultation, and advice to clients and handled the duties of a first-year public defender, including participating in a trial academy.
In her spare time, Mercedes enjoys spending time with her dog Purpose-Lee Esquire, reading, research, writing, and learning.
